LOS ANGELES -- Federal authorities in California say they have broken up an international child pornography ring that spanned three continents and resulted in at least 16 arrests.

Indictments were returned last year in Los Angeles for some of the people facing child pornography charges. Investigators say suspects have been charged in Romania, France and Brazil, while others have been convicted in Norway and the United Kingdom.

More details are expected to be announced at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Court documents show those charged belonged to a members-only message board known as "Lost Boy" where child pornography could be viewed.

Federal prosecutors say that in order to join the board, each member had to post explicit images. The site also stored a private library of child pornography for members to access.
