A former social worker who agreed to a plea deal in a case involving a boy in her care who was found handcuffed to a porch with a dead chicken around his neck has been released from jail.
Media outlets report Wanda Sue Larson was released from Union County Jail Wednesday, one week after a plea deal which resulted in a 17-month prison sentence. At the time, Larson, 58, was also given a suspended sentence for failure to carry out her duties as a Union County social worker. The boy was found in November 2013.
She has received credit for the 16½ months she spent in jail.
Larson's boyfriend, Dorian Harper, pleaded guilty March 18 to similar child abuse charges and was sentenced to at least six years in prison.
