The defense in the trial of a white North Carolina police officer accused in the shooting death of an unarmed black man is starting the third week of testimony with more evidence following a technical glitch.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Randall Kerrick's defense team was attempting to play the video of an interview of Officer Adam Neal, who was one of the three officers on the scene as Jonathan Ferrell was shot to death in September 2013 as police responded to a breaking and entering call. But the attorneys ran into difficulties with the video late Friday, leading Judge Richard Ervin to call a recess until Monday.
Testimony is scheduled to resume at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Kerrick is charged with voluntary manslaughter and faces up to 11 years in prison if convicted.
