Commuter rail service in Connecticut resumes after suspicious package probe

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Metro-North Railroad says train service has resumed through Fairfield after police finished investigating a suspicious package near the station.

Residual delays of one to two hours are expected.

Metro-North spokesman Aaron Donovan says the suspension started at about 6:15 a.m. Friday in both directions. The resumption of service was announced about 8:30 a.m.

Train service between Stamford and Grand Central terminal was not affected.

Metro-North serves 281,000 riders a day in New York and Connecticut and is the nation's second busiest commuter railroad.
