Closing arguments are expected in the trial of a man charged with firing a gun at vehicles along the Interstate 96 corridor in Michigan.
Raulie Casteel testified Monday that he shot at two-dozen cars in October 2012 because he believed motorists were part of a government conspiracy against him. Casteel said he was filled with fear and anxiety while in traffic, most likely from undiagnosed delusional and paranoid thinking.
The 44-year-old geologist who was living in Wixom at the time of the shootings was the lone defense witness.
Once the judge clears up an issue regarding jury instructions, closing arguments are expected to begin Tuesday in Howell.
Casteel is contesting terrorism and assault, but not weapons charges. Police say they matched his gun to bullet fragments recovered from vehicles.
