A Cleveland officer cleared in the fatal shooting of two people in a 137-shot barrage of police gunfire has pleaded not guilty to beating up his twin brother four days after his acquittal.
Court documents show that attorneys for 31-year-old Michael Brelo (BREE'-loh) and brother Mark filed the not guilty pleas ahead of arraignments initially scheduled for Wednesday.
A criminal complaint says the two were charged with attacking each other May 27 in suburban Bay Village. They're charged with assault.
Michael Brelo was acquitted May 23 in the 2012 shooting of two unarmed suspects. He was accused of firing the final 15 shots of the barrage while standing on the hood of the suspects' car.
Mark Brelo's attorney, Kevin Spellacy, had no comment Tuesday. A message left for Michael Brelo's attorney seeking comment wasn't immediately returned.
