'Chinese lantern' mistaken for grenade at Times Square subway station

A New York City subway station was temporarily closed Monday after authorities discovered a toy "Chinese lantern" that looked like a grenade.

New York Police Department tells Fox News that the device was found at the 42nd St. and Eighth Ave. subway station in Times Square on a north bound local track.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials said that A, C, and E trains were bypassing 42 St. in both directions as the NYPD inspected the device.
