A brush-removal worker in California died Thursday after he got tangled in rope and fell into an industrial-sized wood chipper, authorities told FoxNews.com.
He was working with his crew at a private residence in Nevada County, north of Sacramento, and was feeding branches and debris into the machine.
At about 8:30 a.m., his fellow workers heard a loud scream and found him tangled in the rotors, Sgt. Hap Penaluna, of the Nevada County Sheriff’s office, said.
The man fell in torso first. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities did not release the worker’s name because his family had yet to be notified, but they estimated that he was in his late 40s.
“It’s just a tragic accident,” Penaluna said. “It's just horrific."
