Big Cat Sanctuary in Tennessee Sues Neighbors Over Harassment

KINGSTON, Tenn.-- A big cat sanctuary in Roane County, Tenn., is accusing neighbors of a campaign of harassment meant to drive the enterprise out of business.

The claims are part of a $2 million countersuit filed this week by Tiger Haven Inc. after neighbors in June filed a $10 million suit against the sanctuary.

Neighbors allege the sanctuary has destroyed the quiet enjoyment of their properties and that waste runoff from the more-than 250 lions, tigers and other big cats there has contaminated adjoining land.

The complaint seeks to shut down the 50-acre sanctuary or at least prevent operators from acquiring any more neglected, abandoned or abused cats.
