Robert Durst's attorney says the real estate heir is willing to pay extradition costs to face a murder charge in California.
A deadline to extradite Durst is coming next week, but a prosecutor told Magistrate Harry Cantrell on Tuesday that it can be delayed for another two months. The prosecutor says the extradition is beside the point while Louisiana weapons charges are pending.
Cantrell put off the hearing until Thursday.
That's when he's scheduled a hearing on whether two FBI agents and a state trooper are in contempt of court for missing a hearing last week.
Justice Department lawyers have asked a federal court to take over that question.
Durst was in court, hands shackled in padded cuffs. A deputy had to help him out of his armchair.
