Anchorage police say they're hoping someone will come forward with information about the activities of an 18-year-old man found severely beaten and critically wounded at an abandoned downtown home.

A typed, anonymous note left with police at the University of Alaska Anchorage led to the discovery Monday night of James Clinton.

He was found in a home due to be demolished two days later.

The home is across the street from a shelter for homeless teens and a block from the main Anchorage federal building, which includes the federal courthouse.

Clinton remains unconscious and in critical condition at an Anchorage hospital with head and body injuries.

Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Castro says investigators are trying to track down anyone who knew Clinton or was associated with him.
