PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Four Providence police officers and 20 other people have been indicted in a wide-ranging Rhode Island cocaine investigation.
Three of the officers had been arrested previously. A fourth, Detective Robert Enright, turned himself in Wednesday.
Enright was arraigned in Providence Superior Court on charges of harboring a criminal and conspiracy. He pleaded not guilty and was released.
State Police Supt. Brendan Doherty says the case shows that no one is above the law. He says it concludes a wiretap investigation that began last year.
The three other officers were arrested in March. They include a narcotics detective and a former police driver for Providence Mayor David Cicilline (sis-uh-LEE'-nee).
