    2012 Iowa Caucuses

Republican voters across Iowa turned out Tuesday night to express support for one of seven candidates vying for the nomination to take on President Obama in the fall's general election. Unlike in a primary, in which voting occurs over hours, the 809 Iowa caucuses were meetings in which Republicans gathered for an evening of politics.
