Two people have been found dead inside a car that plunged into the Potomac River.
The car was found in the water near the Roosevelt Bridge early Sunday. The U.S. Park Police says the car was traveling on Ohio Drive near Parkway Drive when it left the roadway and that one passenger was able to swim ashore and alert authorities.
Fire officials say the car went into the water around 10:50 p.m. and was located about 1 a.m. It was not clear why the car went into the water or whether the occupant of the car who was able to escape was the driver or a passenger.
