Police say they hope to charge a 19-year-old man Monday in the shooting of police officer, but they are still looking for a second man.
Authorities say Clarksdale Police Cpl. Derrick Crouch was responding to an armed robbery when he was shot in the face on Saturday after he apparently tried to question a suspect. Mayor Bill Luckett says Crouch remains in critical condition Monday in a hospital.
Assistant Clarksdale Police Chief Robbie Lindley tells The Associated Press says he will not release the suspect's name before he is officially charged. The assistant chief says the Clarksdale man is being held at the Coahoma County jail.
Police had questioned a second man Sunday, but Lindley says he was released because officers don't believe he was involved.
