Weird and wacky themed cruises

Some people like to cruise to relax on cruises, while others are looking to visit exotic locations. But you may be surprised to know there are theme cruises for pretty much any interest you may have.  Here's a look at some of the weirdest.

    Horror on High Seas

Fan of the horror flick "Saw" will set sail this August on the first official movie cruise. For five glorious nights in August, the Carnival Glory will travel from New York to "the most beautiful points in Canada," including Saint John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia. Passengers can also mingle with some of the SAW stars and participating SAW tattoo contests.

This June, a week-long vampire convention will be held on a cruise to Southeast Alaska. Passengers can participate in late night parties, sip “vampalicious” drinks, perform in the Vamps Got Talent Show and meet and Bram Stoker's great-grandnephew Dacre Stoker. Cool.

    Cougar Cruise

If you’re single and, ahem, of a certain age,  you might want to check out the sixth annual Cougar Cruise, which goes from Florida to Cozumel and back.  The Cougar Cruise boats of “5 Nights of fun...dining, dancing and partying.”  But there’s more than mingling with other singles.  You can also swim with dolphins or sharks, kayak, snorkel, parasail, or just relax.

    Trekkies at Sea

Klingons unite on this Star Trek-themed cruise departing from Miami to the Caribbean on the Norwegian Epic where its website says passengers can get "a more personal experience than any convention."  Celebs from Star Trek series and movies will be on board to sign autographs, have dinner and moderate as fans watch old re-runs.

    Running on the Water

Talk about running in the right circles.  Passengers aboard the Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas will run -- both onboard and in port –and at sunrise and sunset, during  midnight scavenger hunt runs and along the beach.  Somewhere they’ll hopefully sit down.  Hosted in conjunction with ESPN, the seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise on departs Dec. 1 from Fort Lauderdale.  The cruise also has training talks and seminars with athletes onboard, cooking demos and stretching and calisthenics seminars.

    Gambling on High Seas

If you’re into high-stakes poker, this cruise is for you. The World Poker Tour cruise is a week-long on Royal Caribbean's 3,634-passenger Freedom of the Seas.  On board will be World Poker Tour cast members Mike Sexton, Vince Van Patten and the World Poker Tour's Royal Flush Girls.
