    Lady Liberty celebrates 130 years on US soil

  • Lady Liberty stands over 150 feet.
    From pedestal base to the tip of the torch, the Statue of Liberty is 151 feet tall. The statue is comprised of over 62,000 pounds (31 tons) of copper and 250,000 lbs (125 tons) of internal iron framework. She is positioned facing southeast, to greet all people entering the New York Harbor.

    Private boats may not dock at Bedloe Island but Statue Cruises offers regular ferries to and from Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Prices start at $9 for kids and go up to $18 for adults. Crown access is an extra fee but ranger tours are included.

  • Can you still visit the crown?
    Access to Lady Liberty's crown was closed after the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Today, only special reservations are honored that can not be made day-of-- so plan this special visit accordingly, usually weeks in advance.
