And now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine...
Kiss-ell Off
Another Democrat is giving the convention in Charlotte the Kiss off, or perhaps more accurately the Kissell off.
The Charlotte Observer reports North Carolina Congressman Larry Kissell plans on skipping the convention though it certainly isn't because of the long travel time.
Kissell's 8th Congressional District is only about a mile from where the DNC will hold events.
He might not have been too welcome at the convention, anyway.
Kissell says he won't endorse President Obama, he voted to hold Attorney General Holder in contempt and plans on voting to repeal the president's health care law.
Anchor$ Aweigh
The Navy is going full steam ahead with an initiative to power ships with biofuel despite criticism that that the so-called "green Navy" will be hitting taxpayers in the wallet hard.
The 50/50 blend of alternative and conventional fuel costs about $26 a gallon compared to typical fuel costing about $3.60 a gallon.
Republican lawmakers say that's just too much money considering the average non-nuclear aircraft carrier burns 100,000 gallons of fuel on a normal day.
The Navy wants to have half its fleet on alternative fuels by 20/20 and insists costs will go down as fuel production goes up.
One Hit Wonder
Finally, you may remember this conservative prodigy who was a YouTube sensation after speaking to the 2009 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JONATHAN KROHN, CPAC SPEAKER: The conservatism is not an ideology of feelings or romanticism as some people like to say, it is an ideology of protecting the people and the people's rights.
(APPLAUSE)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
Well, Politico reports that Jonathan Krohn -- who is now 17 -- has changed his mind about a few things since he wowed the CPAC crowd. Krohn says he is in favor of gay marriage, supports Obamacare and says he would probably vote for President Obama.
It's a safe bet that he won't be speaking at next year's CPAC event.
