YouTube Video Captures Landmine Blast Yards Away From GI Patrol

A convoy of GIs driving along a highway, eyes constantly scanning the landscape for snipers, IEDs (improvised explosive devices), land mines... Never safe, always vigilant ... muscles taut, nerves on edge, both needed to work in concert when a fraction of a second can separate life from death.

That's what American soldiers in Iraq face every day.

In a remarkable video posted on YouTube, those dangers are illustrated in a graphic dose of reality, as a landmine bursts through a paved highway known as Hershey Pass just yards away from an oncoming armored vehicle.
