BRISTOW, Okla. – A worker jumped to his death from an oil rig Wednesday after an explosion rocked a Tulsa-area oil field.
At least two others were badly burned in the fire that broke out after the accident.
Workers apparently were pumping cement into a hole when oil and gas shot back up from the ground and ignited, setting off a large explosion Wednesday morning, according to emergency officials.
The fire was put out and no evacuations were needed.
The accident happened on an oil field lease in a rural area in Creek County off Highway 66, officials said.
The injured workers were transported to the hospital with severe burns, officials said. Their conditions were not immediately available.
