Woman Charged in Plastic Surgery Death of N.J. Cop

Union County authorities have charged a Colombian native with aggravated manslaughter in the death of a former Newark police officer who died after undergoing a plastic surgery procedure.

Adriana Jaramillo, who authorities believe is 40 years old, was also charged Tuesday with practicing medicine without a license out of her home in Rahway.

The charges stem from the death of Olga Arroyo on Nov. 21, 2007. An autopsy report said Arroyo's death was caused by an adverse reaction after being injected with silicone and lidocaine.

The 41-year-old Arroyo was a former Newark police officer who had been working as an assistant to Newark Police Director Garry McCarthy.
