Wash. Son Arrested After Mom and Dad Found Stabbed to Death

SPOKANE, Wash. – An 18-year-old boy who had been ordered to move out of his family's home is accused of killing his parents, dumping their bodies into a scoop loader, then heading off to school, according to court documents.

Bail was set at $1 million Thursday for Bryan P. Kim after his arrest the day before for investigation of two counts of second-degree murder.

Autopsies completed Thursday determined his father, Richard Kim, died of multiple stab wounds and his mother, Teresa Kim, was strangled, the Spokane County sheriff's office said.

Bryan Kim suffers from bipolar disorder, according to court documents.

He had just been told he would have to move out by January. That ultimatum and an argument over Internet usage preceded the slayings Tuesday night or early Wednesday, according to court papers.

The bodies were found in the bucket of a small tractor in an outbuilding at the family's Spokane home. Both were bloody and one had a plastic bag tied around the head, according to the sheriff's office.

"Go on with what you're gonna do. Book me," Bryan Kim reportedly told deputies when he was arrested. "I'm gonna cry myself to sleep later. Let's get this going."

Detectives told Spokane County District Judge Richard White that Bryan Kim had prior arrests for assault, kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment dating to 2002. His parents were listed as the victims in each of the cases, according to records.

On Wednesday, deputies found a bloody cell phone in the driveway, blood on the home's floors and tire tracks to the front door that appeared to have been made by a Bobcat-type front-loader.

Court documents said Bryan Kim left his home Wednesday morning, picked up his girlfriend to take her to school, withdrew $1,000 from his father's bank account and went to class at Mount Spokane High School. He was arrested there later in the day.
