Venezuelan rescuers are searching for three small planes that have gone missing over the weekend.

Air Force Col. Kiumel Aponte says searchers are looking for an aircraft carrying three soldiers that disappeared on Friday in southern Amazonas state.

Alfredo Jazcko of Venezuela's emergency protection agency says rescuers in western Tachira state are searching for two other planes.

Jazcko said on Sunday the planes were reported missing after taking off from the Colombian cities of Bogota and Arauca on Saturday.

Jazcko says one was destined for the city of Cucuta on the Venezuela-Colombia border while the other was headed for Venezuelan city of Valencia. He says the planes are not believed to be carrying passengers.
