Underwear-Clad Activists Protest Bullfighting in France

About 30 animal rights activists dressed only in their underwear have protested bullfighting in front of a bull sculpture across from the Eiffel Tower.

Supporters of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals group taped yellow, red, and white sticks that are used in bullfights to the backs of demonstrators and smeared them with fake red blood.

Some protesters held signs in English that read "The naked truth: bullfighting is cruel," and "Stop the bloody bullfight."

Others protesters sprawled themselves on the ground to symbolize dead bulls during Thursday's protest.

Bullfighting remains popular in some parts of southern France, but, unlike in Spain, the bulls are not killed.
