U.S. Soldier Dies From Non-Hostile Gunfire

BAGHDAD, Iraq – A soldier assigned to the 17th Field Artillery Brigade (search) died from a non-hostile gunshot wound at a base camp north of Baghdad (search), the U.S. military said Wednesday.

No further details were given in the incident, which occurred Tuesday near the town of Balad (search).

The soldier's name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
