John White, who was 96, donated the majority of his wealth to churches and children’s groups.

"One would always like to be a millionaire but I don't begrudge him his choice," said Richard White, the World War II veteran’s nephew and closest living relative.

The money left to the family was to go into a trust fund for his children’s education.

The reason for his donation choices was a mystery.
