Two snowmobilers were killed in an avalanche near Cameroon Pass on Sunday, Larimer County sheriff's spokeswoman Eloise Campanella said.

She said few details were available because communications with the area were difficult. Blizzard conditions were reported at the 10,000-foot elevation northwest of Rocky Mountain National Park as a storm that originated in California dumped heavy snow in the Rockies.

Campanella said a wildlife agent reported the accident about 11:15 a.m., and the deaths were confirmed about 1:13 p.m. The county coroner was en route to the scene.

Campanella said the avalanche was near Trap Lake area, near the Jackson County line.
