A trial date has been set for a Muslim-American businessman charged with beheading his estranged wife at the upstate New York television station the couple created to counter Muslim stereotypes.

Muzzammil Hassan did not speak during a procedural appearance with his lawyer in Erie County Court in Buffalo on Thursday. His trial is set for Jan. 18.

Hassan has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Aasiyah Hassan.

The 37-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times and decapitated Feb. 12 at the offices of Bridges TV in the Buffalo suburb of Orchard Park.

Muzzammil Hassan had been served with divorce papers and an order of protection a week earlier.

The 44-year-old is being held without bail.
