A truck crashed into a passenger and cargo train in southern Greece Saturday, killing the truck driver and injuring two people, the Fire Service said.
The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. local time (1100 GMT) near the town of Pyrgos in the western Peloponnese region, some 200 miles southwest of Athens.
The Fire Service said two passengers and the train driver were injured in the accident at a rail crossing, which caused at least one car to come off the tracks and smash into a nearby restaurant.
The crash is the second major train accident in Greece in eight days. On March 7, a passenger train derailed, injuring 23 people.
On Saturday, firefighters took about two hours to free the injured train driver from the wreckage.
The train was traveling to Pyrgos from the southern city of Kalamata.
Fire Service officials said the cause of the collision was not immediately known, but said witnesses had reported seeing the truck ignore a warning light and bell at the crossing.
