PORT CLINTON, Ohio – Authorities say a railroad car that tumbled off a bridge over northern Ohio's Sandusky Bay is not leaking and doesn't pose a hazard.
As many as four freight cars derailed early Wednesday morning.
Ottawa County Sheriff Robert Bratton says there are no reports of injuries.
The derailment occurred around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday. Bratton says authorities are assuming the train cars were blown off the bridge by high winds. The National Weather Service says gusts of more than 50 miles per hour were recorded across northern Ohio overnight.
The rail bridge runs between the Sandusky area in Erie County and the Ottawa County peninsula that includes Port Clinton.
