(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TORI SPELLING, ACTRESS: Family dinner is extremely important to me. Our schedules are so chaotic right now. But I'm really trying. Now is to this — now was the time to establish it.

Mama. Why don't you eat it, please, instead of giving it to Buggy? You’re not going to eat it?

Do you want to talk about our day, though? That is what families do. Do you have any interest in that conversation?

One day, we will accomplish the family dinner. It will happen.

SEAN HANNITY, HOST: And that was a clip from the hit reality show, "Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood," now entering its fourth season on the Oxygen Network.

Now, along with being a mom, a TV star, Tori has her own line of jewelry available at HSN and is the author of a brand-new book, "Mommywood," which chronicles her life as a mom in the limelight. Tori Spelling is with us.

Video: Watch Sean's interview

How are you? I feel like I know you. I've watched the show. You're just — to me, you're just a regular mom. I mean — but it's on TV.

SPELLING: Thank you. That is the biggest compliment I could get.

HANNITY: But was it a hard decision? Because having cameras in your life, I mean, I have watched you and your husband. You were in the bedroom, with the kids, and reading. Every — you don't have any peace.

SPELLING: Well, I didn't have any peace before. I mean, the cameras were in my face before. But it was the paparazzi and it was the press. So, you know, which do you go with? They were writing things that weren't the truth. So we figured, well, we'll just put our lives out there and show them what the truth is.

HANNITY: You know what I worry about? Because I've watched you since the "90210" days, which are back, by the way.

SPELLING: And Donna’s back.

HANNITY: So I worry about all these young kids that get into fame. As a matter of fact, most older people that I know that are famous, you know what? They can't handle it.

You seem to have navigated it. I know there's a lot been written about your life and your family, but you seem to have come out of it pretty well. What about those kids that aren't doing so well? Why do you think that is?

SPELLING: Thank you. You know what? I don't know. And people always say to me — I started "90210" when I was 16. And I had every opportunity — money, fame, you know — to go down the wrong path. And people say, "Why didn't it happen to you? You know, why didn't you go the wrong way?" And I simply say, "Because I had my eye on the prize." I was given a very fortunate opportunity, and I wasn't going to screw it up. I wanted to be an actor.

HANNITY: Right. And your dad obviously, you know, created all these hit TV shows over the years.

SPELLING: Yes.

HANNITY: And — and so you actually worked for him on that show, because he was the creator of "90210." And you've had some public family issues. And I don't know how deep you want to go into it. Your mom, in particular, after your dad passed away. How has that gone? How is all that?

SPELLING: It's — it's quite public right now.

HANNITY: Yes.

SPELLING: And that's the hard part. Because you know, now there's children involved. There's my kids. And my mom has a book out now, as well, which is great. And you know, everyone’s entitled to speak their truth, I speak my truth in my book. She speaks her truth.

HANNITY: Are they different truths?

SPELLING: You know what? I haven't read the book yet. So — but from what I'm hearing, they might be a little different. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. And you know, I just think when my children are involved, wish it could be a little more private.

HANNITY: Well, are you then putting them, though, in the limelight when you put them on the TV show, though?

SPELLING: That's something I can contain and I can control. And I actually like doing it that way, rather than, you know, people taking pictures as we leave the house. At least when it's my house, it's our cameras. It's our crew. You know, it's literally not what people think. It's not cameras 24 hours a day. It's a small crew.

HANNITY: Do you want a relationship with her? Do you — because I know people have asked you this question. Do you want a relationship with her?

SPELLING: You know, it's taken me 35 years to come to the conclusion that perhaps, you know, people are who they are. She's who she is. I am who I am. And maybe it's not the healthiest of relationships. And maybe it's not the best thing in my life. But...

HANNITY: Is that a no?

SPELLING: Well, you know, it is more about the focus is more on the kids now. She is their grandparent. And if you would like to be in their lives and be a positive influence, I encourage that.

HANNITY: I'm getting better because I hold grudges, you know, especially against liberals and — I'm kidding. But there are a lot of them that don't like me, either.

But I do really believe, at least intellectually — I'm not the perfect Christian — that probably the best thing in life is if you can forgive and move on. For some people that — you can forgive them, but you don't have to have them in your life either.

SPELLING: Right. Well, I mean, it's about acceptance. And I think people are who they are and you can forgive them. And if you can accept them and who they are and have that relationship, that's great. Sometimes, it's not always possible.

HANNITY: Now, you grew up in the limelight.

SPELLING: I did.

HANNITY: What kind of impact did that have on you?

SPELLING: You know, it was different back then. I mean, as far as the media and the paparazzi, it's a whole different thing nowadays. We didn't have that. There wasn't paparazzi following you home. I mean, now they sit outside our house.

HANNITY: They don't follow talk show and TV hosts, thank God. They have better things to do.

I worry about some of these young kids. I think, you know, we're going to have another Anna Nicole Smith on our hands. They're doing drugs. They're part during. They're drinking. They're all this. What — have you ever talked to some of those kids and said, you know — and tried to help them?

SPELLING: I haven't. Because I mean, who am I to give advice? But you know, it's the whole thing. You know, you get fame and you have to deal with that properly. Just because you're in the limelight doesn't mean that you shouldn't do it.

I mean — but there's the problem that kids have that everywhere. It's just the focus is on the Hollywood kids.

HANNITY: Best thing ever happened to me is I was washing dishes, I was a busboy, I was a bartender, I laid tile, I hung wallpaper, I was a painter, a carpenter, I remodeled houses. And that gave me reality.

But Tori, good to see you. Thanks for being with us.

SPELLING: Thanks for having me.

HANNITY: Good luck with your book. And good luck with the TV show.
