CBS News (search) admits it made a mistake and apologizes. Veteran anchorman Dan Rathers says, "personally and directly, I am sorry." But, for a lot of people, it's just not good enough.

The Hartford Courant has called for Rather to retire. Norfolk, Virginia radio station WNIS has dropped its affiliation with CBS News. Several newspaper editors in the United States are wondering whether they should drop Rather's weekly column.
