Too Late for Anti-War Album About Iraq?

Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Pearl Jam are creating an anti-war movie soundtrack. It contains over 30 songs, which to me is about 30 too many.

If there is one thing I learned from Fergie, whose "My Humps" taught me to open my mind — especially about humps — it's that protest songs need to be punchy. They need not drag on. Frankly, this album sounds like a quagmire. If I wasn't busy with my charity work with runaways, I would write a protest song to protest these protest songs.

But, anyway, isn't it a little late to make an anti-war CD about Iraq? That's like waiting until the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl to bet against the Giants. Because, with thanks to General Petraeus, the war has turned around. And that has to hurt a bit, if you're anti-war when things go well for America.

Sure, we're going to be there for a while. But not even Obama can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory — no matter how many times these rich old white guys rhyme "scourge" with "George" or make a dirty pun on Bush.

And, if you need more proof that these musicians are on the wrong side of history, Professor Cornel West is on the CD — and there's never been an American enemy he hasn't loved. Worse, he can't rap.

And if you disagree with me, then you sir, are worse than Hitler.
