Events surrounding the bank slayings in Norfolk, Neb.: Thursday, Sept. 26

--8:47 a.m. -- Police receive a call that an armed robbery had taken place at the U.S. Bank branch on U.S. Highway 81 in the heart of Norfolk. Soon after, others calls come that shots are being fired and people are down.

--Around 9 a.m. -- Police find four bank employees and a customer shot to death in the bank branch. Another customer is injured with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Two employees are unharmed.

Three suspects force their way into a house two blocks from the bank, pointing their guns at the home's two elderly residents and ordering them to the floor. The men steal the keys to the couple's Subaru Outback. The residents are not injured.

The FBI and law enforcement agencies across Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota are alerted. The Nebraska State Patrol start to establish road blocks on all major roadways leaving the area.

--11:30 a.m. -- Police in O'Neill, 76 miles northwest of Norfolk, arrest three suspects during a traffic stop at a convenience store. The three -- Jose Sandoval, 23, of Norfolk; Jorge Galindo, 21, and Erick Fernando Vela, 21, both of Madison -- are found in a green Ford pickup reported stolen that morning from the Meadow Grove area, about 16 miles west of Norfolk.

--1:30 p.m. -- The Subaru stolen in Norfolk is found with the help of the vehicle's satellite navigation system. The car is found in a pond west of Meadow Grove.

Authorities also seize a third vehicle, a blue 1979 Ford F250 pickup, in the Meadow Grove area. Investigators believe the suspects attempted unsuccessfully to steal the blue Ford pick-up after abandoning the Subaru.

Authorities start searching for an older model blue Cadillac in connection with the robbery.

--4:45 p.m. -- Roadblocks are lifted throughout Nebraska.

--5 p.m. -- Authorities announce that the three men arrested in O'Neill are suspected to be the gunmen in the bank shootings. All three are charged with five counts of first-degree murder.

Three handguns were recovered on the roadside between Ewing and Clearwater, along the route that police believe the suspects fled after the robbery.

--10:52 p.m. -- Authorities confirm they are searching for a fourth suspect in the robbery, who is believed to be in an older model blue Cadillac.

--Around midnight -- The Cadillac is found parked in a neighborhood in southeast Norfolk. Soon after, the fourth suspect -- Gabriel Rodriguez, 26, of Madison -- is arrested.
