A Texas fire chief said up to three dozen firefighters in the state capital may be disciplined for viewing pornographic Web sites on the job after two were suspended for having sexually explicit material on their work computers.
Acting Austin Fire Chief Jim Evans said the department is reviewing the Web sites the firefighters accessed while on the job after officials discovered the pornography during routine server maintenance, the Austin American-Statesman reports.
"This was not a witch hunt," he told the paper. "We weren't looking for this."
Evans suspended Arturo Martin last week for 90 days on charges he violated the department's computer-use policy by viewing pornography and pornographic stories 21 times, the paper said. Firefighter Daniel Martinez received a four-day suspension after opening an e-mail from a co-worker containing sexually explicit images.
