Authorities say a woman was attacked by a pack of dogs as she jogged near her East Tennessee home.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Bud McCoig says 22-year-old Jessica Ann Zajac was jogging on a Jefferson County road around 6 p.m. Thursday when she was attacked by seven or eight blue heelers.

Zajac was able to escape to a neighbor's house for help. She had bites over most of her body and was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center where she was in stable condition on Friday.

McCoig said the dogs are owned by 37-year-old Rodney Humphrey, who has been cited for allowing the dogs to run free.

Authorities were able to capture four of the dogs, which were taken to an animal shelter. Several other dogs remained at large, but McCoig said traps will be set to capture them.
