A teenager convicted of murdering the wife of a prominent defense attorney was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Scott Dyleski was 16 when he bludgeoned and stabbed his neighbor, Pamela Vitale, 45, in her Lafayette home on Oct. 15, 2005. He was convicted last month of first-degree murder with the special circumstance that Vitale was killed during the commission of a robbery.

Dyleski showed no reaction when he was sentenced.
He avoided the death penalty because of his age, now 17, but his lawyer argued that he should be sentenced to 25 years to life in prison because of his youth and troubled upbringing.
