A 16-year-old boy accused of running down a nurse outside a Syracuse hospital has been charged with assault and reckless driving.

Police say Andre Escobar surrendered Friday, two days after a surveillance video of the hit-and-run was released. He's also charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. Investigators got an anonymous tip that led them to the car Thursday.

Sixty-one-year-old Rebecca Forsythe suffered two fractured vertebrae, a broken leg and a cut to her head when she was hit Dec. 2 outside an entrance to Crouse Hospital. She's in good condition.

Forsythe works for an Arlington, Texas, firm that finds temporary employment for nurses.

The name of Escobar's lawyer wasn't immediately available.
