The federal government says it will stop Medicare funding to Tampa General Hospital if improvements aren't made in its psychiatric unit.

In response to two recent patient suicides there, a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services investigation found patients in "immediate jeopardy." Regulators gave the hospital until Sept. 6 to fix the problems or lose the money.

The hospital's president and CEO, Ron Hytoff, says he's saddened and concerned about the report. Hytoff says the hospital is already working to fix the problems.

The two patient suicides happened in July. In both cases, the patients hanged themselves with bedsheets.
