Supreme Court Denies Request to Stop Deportation of Accused Nazi Guard John Demjanjuk
CLEVELAND – The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a bid by alleged Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk to stop his deportation to Germany.
Justice John Paul Stevens on Thursday made no comment as he denied Demjanjuk's request.
A German arrest warrant accused Demjanjuk of 29,000 counts of accessory to murder during World War II.
Lawyers for the 89-year-old retired autoworker from suburban Cleveland said he's in poor health and too frail to be sent overseas.
Demjanjuk's attorney in Germany made a separate appeal Thursday in that country to block the deportation.
