A pair of women's sunglasses discovered on the banks of a South Carolina river has renewed the search for a New York teen missing since April.

Multiple media outlets report the sunglasses were found by someone walking along the Santee River in Georgetown County about 40 miles south of Myrtle Beach.

The Dec. 3 discovery led about 70 volunteers and police officers to search the area for a week for 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel of Rochester, N.Y.

Drexel was last seen April 26 — the same day a picture was taken of her wearing knockoff designer sunglasses similar to the pair found at the river. The site is not far from where her cell phone gave off its last known signal that night.

Searchers say they didn't find anything else, but say they haven't given up hope.
