The Pierre high school football player who collapsed during a pregame warmup has undergone heart surgery in Sioux Falls.
Senior center Taylor Maier has a history of heart problems but had a doctor's permission to play in the game on Saturday against Mitchell.
A portable defibrillator was used to shock his heart into beating and he was eventually transferred to Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota.
Tuesday's surgery lasted several hours.
A hospital official says Maier is in good condition and his family says he's resting well.
