An argument over the noise made while watching a Mets baseball game sparked a fight that left a Queens, N.Y., woman bashed to death with a barbell — allegedly by her psychotic son, the New York Post reported.
The son, Michael Anthony told police that he had been fighting with his father when his mother, 61-year-old Maria Fischman, tried to intervene, the paper reported.

"My mother jumped in," he told police. "She went into the kitchen and got a knife."
Police say Anthony grabbed a 20-pound barbell after he thought his mom was going for a new weapon.
"[I] swung it, hit her and she fell to the floor," Anthony allegedly said, according to the Post.
Maria Fischman was found dead Saturday night in her sixth-floor apartment in the Pomonok Houses in Flushing, N.Y. The Post also reported that the woman had refused to have her son committed.

"I wanted him committed, but his mother didn't want it," the 26-year-old man's father, Fred Fischman, told the Post.
