Small Plane Crashes Into Calif. Radio Tower

LA MIRADA, Calif. – A small plane taking off from Fullerton Airport struck a radio tower in La Mirada Sunday morning, exploding and killing both people aboard.

The fire department says a man and a woman on board the small Cessna aircraft are confirmed dead.

The plane struck the transmitting tower of KF- radio, knocking the station off the air for a short time. KFI is back on the air. Television footage showed the 900 foot tower in pieces on the ground and plane wreckage scattered around the area near the 5 freeway.

The NTSB has been called in to investigate the cause of the crash.
