Small Chemical Explosion Occurs in News Corp. Building

A small chemical explosion occurred Monday in the corporate headquarters of News Corp., which houses the FOX News Channel, in midtown Manhattan.

The mid-morning incident happened on the building's 45th floor, which houses mechanical systems, and was reportedly caused by a chemical reaction between two agents.

Three floors were evacuated, but the explosion did not affect the FOX News Channel, which continued to broadcast without incident.

One person was injured, officials said.
