Search and rescue teams are hunting for two California girls who have disappeared in the Chatsworth (search) section of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Police Department officers said a mountain rescue team from the county sheriff's office and civilians who specialize in following footprints are contributing to the search effort.

The terrain in the Chatsworth area is very rugged; as day breaks in Southern California, more search and rescue personnel are joining teams comprised of K9 units, helicopters and cops on dirt bikes in the effort to find the two girls.

Ten-year-old Amanda Quaglino and 13-year-old Grace Freymiller go horseback riding every day after school but didn't come home Wednesday night. They were reported missing at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The Devonshire division of the LAPD says the girls have no history of running off and no apparent family problems. The horses the girls usually ride were found in their stables Wednesday night. Police say there is a possibility however, that the girls never took the horses out at all Wednesday.

Quaglino is described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt, jeans and tan tennis shoes. Freymiller is described as being white, 5 feet tall weighing 120 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and black boots.

No Amber Alert (search) has been issued yet.

Chatsworth is located in the northwestern end of the San Fernando Valley (search) and is known for its horse stables and western-style riding. Chatsworth is also the filming location for western-style movies and television shows.
