Rescue groups must find homes for fighting dogs seized from suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick's property by Tuesday.
A court-appointed guardian is accepting applications for the 48 pit bulls held in Virginia shelters since April when they were seized in a raid on Vick's property.
According to a court order, only established rescue groups will be eligible to take custody of the dogs.
Vick is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 10 in Richmond on a federal dogfighting conspiracy charge.
In his plea, Vick admitted to helping kill underperforming pit bulls and supplying money for gambling on the fights. He said he didn't personally place any bets or share in any winnings.
The NFL suspended him indefinitely and without pay.
