An armed man allegedly trying to rob an Alabama food store reportedly walked away empty-handed after a non-English-speaking clerk couldn't understand his demands for money.

Hispanic immigrant Angelina Geronimo was alone in the Asia Market owned by her husband when the masked man entered the store, the Press-Register reported.

"There was one person, a customer, in the store and as soon as he left, the robber came in," Moses Orozco, Geronimo's son-in-law, told the paper. "He kept pointing the gun at her, but she didn't understand what he was saying."

A surveillance video shows Geronimo shaking her head with her hands over her mouth as the man holds her at gunpoint, the Press-Register reported.

The robber eventually fled with nothing, and Geronimo was not injured, police spokesman Christopher Levy told the paper.

No arrests have been made.
