Hundreds of gang rapes of women and children, with some boys as young as 5, have been reported as part of the violence sweeping through Kenya after last week's presidential election, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Doctors at one hospital told the newspaper they had treated 24 women and 13 girls, as well as admitted three boys who had been repeatedly sodomized.

"We believe we only know about a fraction of cases because most people have no transport to get to hospitals or are still trapped because of the security situation," Rahab Ngugi, a senior nurse at the hospital, told The Daily Telegraph.

Many of the victims, the newspaper reported, were raped in their own homes and were members of President Kibaki Kikuyu's tribe.
