Sometimes when you watch a show, you find yourself hoping one specific person will come out on top, while other times you wish the whole lot of them could just collect the prize.
No matter how hard I've tried, I haven't been able to find a favorite on "Dancing with the Stars." One week I'm blown away by Cameron's energy, the next thoroughly charmed by Jennie's kicks and then later amused by Marie's showmanship and swayed by Mel's skill (when I'm not captivated by Helio's smile).
I could pretend, now that Jane has danced her swan song, that she didn't hold a special place in my heart, but the truth is I spent as much time being impressed with her so-good-it-should-be-illegal-at-56 body and grace as I did admiring the other contestants.
Of course, the fact that there's no clear frontrunner is one of the reasons this season has been so captivating. And with Sabrina out of the running, it really does seem to be anyone's game.
Should we get behind the girl who's been gaining confidence as well as muscle? (Talking to you, Jennie.)
The Brit who made those of us who'd ever questioned the talent of the Spice Girls bite our collective tongues? (Do you really need an ID, Mel?)
The soap star who's collecting ridiculous mileage as he flies back and forth to New York to shoot "All My Children"? (That's you, Cameron.)
The lifelong entertainer who's managed, with ingenuity and humor, to make up for what she lacks in skill? (Sorry, Marie.)
The Brazilian whose smile has as much horsepower as any of the cars he races? (Hello, Helio!)
If I had it my way, I'd award them all top honors, let them keep dancing for a few weeks, then call it a day.
Over on "The Bachelor," the girls have made me a whole lot more decisive. Thankfully, Brad managed to give Bettina the axe — a move he was a good month late in making.
The girl threw him under the bus when her family gave him the third degree yet kept telling him how much she liked him despite never seeming to have a genuine connection with him.
While Jennie seems sweet, she's no match for the feisty and fabulous DeAnna, who's either the best actress this side of Dame Judi Dench or the most down-to-earth girl "The Bachelor" has ever cast.
My money's on the fact that Brad will pick Jennie, because the ones I root for never seem to make it, which means, of course, that everyone on "Dancing with the Stars" is safe for now.
Anna David is a freelance writer. Her novel, "Party Girl," is in stores now.
